Geosteering

About this course

Geosteering is the process of guiding an underground well to intersect a specific geologic target by analyzing the changing hydrogeological properties along the ground surface.

A well can be designed to intercept a particular type of rock, e.g. gas-bearing sands, or start at a certain depth, constraint etc. Geosteering software will monitor changes in hydraulic head or gamma ray signal as you drive the drilling rig forward and instructs the driller on how to adjust for best accuracy.
